The majority of GSM phones are locked into a frequency that matches the area they come from. Most GSM phones that are used in Australia, New Zealand and Europe operate on the 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies. In the USA and Canada, the 1900 MHZ frequency is used, which means that handsets that do not operate on this frequency simply do not work in North
or South America.
Triband phones (also known as world phones or international phones) work across all three frequencies and therefore allow you to travel freely between countries without having to change your mobile phone.
If you are travelling to the USA or Canada, you may wish to rent a triband phone from us and then roam on your existing
SIM card in North America. Alternatively, you may rent a SIM card from us and use it, together with your triband handset, to roam in North America.
